HVAC Rebates in Greater Sacramento

Which rebates you can get depends on who supplies your electricity. Use the ZIP code finder below or read our utility by utility breakdown checked in October 2026. Rebates are paid by the utility or agency, not by us, and are subject to eligibility and program funding.

Check rebates by your ZIP code or city

Enter your 5-digit ZIP code or city name, then select what you are replacing. Because some border addresses (such as parts of Roseville, Antelope or Elverta) can be served by different electric utilities, you can also switch the utility button to match your electric bill.

Fair Oaks (95628) · Permits: Sacramento County

1. What are you replacing?

2. Who sends your electric bill?

Up to $3,000 SMUD gas-to-electric heat pump rebate (subject to program rules)

For SMUD homes replacing a gas furnace with a qualifying variable-stage electric heat pump, SMUD lists rebates of up to $3,000. SMUD rebates are paid only when the work is done by a contractor in the SMUD Contractor Network. Ask us before you buy and we’ll tell you honestly whether your project can qualify with us.

Permit & energy code in this ZIP: replacements require a building permit (we get the permit for you) and usually a Title 24 duct leakage test verified by an independent ECC-Rater (formerly HERS Rater).

First, check your electric bill

Your electric utility decides which programs apply, and your mailing address doesn’t always tell you which one it is: some homes with a Roseville or Antelope address are served by SMUD. Look at who sends your electric bill. Gas everywhere in our area comes from PG&E.

Roseville Electric (City of Roseville)

Roseville Electric customers may qualify for these rebates:

  • Heat pump replacing a gas furnace: $1,500 two-stage or $2,500 variable-stage
  • Heat pump replacing an electric system: $600 two-stage or $1,600 variable-stage (up to two systems per household)
  • Heat pump water heater: $2,500 replacing gas or $1,000 replacing electric

The heat pump rebate requires a City of Roseville building permit and a Title 24 duct test verified by an ECC-Rater (formerly HERS), and the application must be filed within 90 days. We help with the paperwork. Details on the city’s site: heat pump rebate, heat pump water heater rebate, all Roseville Electric rebates.

SMUD (Sacramento, Fair Oaks, Carmichael, Citrus Heights, Folsom, Elk Grove and more)

SMUD offers rebates on qualifying heat pump heating and cooling systems and heat pump water heaters, paid when the work is done by a contractor in the SMUD Contractor Network. Ask us before you buy and we’ll tell you honestly whether your project can qualify with us. Current amounts and rules: SMUD heating and cooling rebates and SMUD appliance rebates.

PG&E electric areas (Placer County, El Dorado Hills, West Sacramento, Davis, Woodland)

As of October 2026 we found no open utility rebates for heat pump heating and cooling in these areas, and Valley Clean Energy (Davis, Woodland) listed none when we checked in November 2026. Two local air districts do offer vouchers if an old wood stove, insert or fireplace is the main heat source in your home and you replace it with an electric heat pump: up to $5,000, or up to $10,000 for income-qualified households. The voucher must be approved before any work starts.
