Ductless Mini-Split Systems in Greater Sacramento
A ductless mini-split is a heat pump: it heats in winter and cools in summer without ductwork. We install Daikin ductless systems, from wall-mounted units to ceiling cassettes, and repair and maintain mini-splits of all major brands.
Where a mini-split makes sense
- Rooms with no ducts: additions, converted garages, sunrooms and accessory dwelling units (ADUs).
- Rooms that never get comfortable on the central system, like a bonus room over the garage or an upstairs office.
- Older homes heated with wall or floor heaters and no ductwork.
- Replacing window air conditioners with a quieter system that also heats.
- The whole house, with a multi-zone system and an indoor unit in each main room.

Indoor unit options
- Wall-mounted. The most common choice, mounted high on the wall.
- Ceiling cassette. Sits flush in the ceiling and spreads air in several directions. It looks clean in open rooms, kitchens and living areas.
- Floor-mounted console. Sits low on the wall, a good fit under windows or where the ceiling slopes.
- Concealed ducted unit. Hidden in a ceiling or closet, with short ducts to one or more rooms.
Single-zone or multi-zone
A single-zone system has one outdoor unit and one indoor unit. A multi-zone system connects several indoor units to one outdoor unit, and each room gets its own temperature setting. We size the system to your rooms with a heat-load calculation, so each indoor unit matches the space it serves.
What the installation includes
- Mounting the indoor units and setting the outdoor unit on a pad or wall brackets.
- Running the refrigerant lines, control wiring and condensate drain, with a line-set cover outside.
- Making the flare connections, testing the lines with nitrogen under pressure and pulling a vacuum before the refrigerant goes into the system.
- Connecting the system to its electrical circuit. If your electrical panel needs more capacity, that work is done by a licensed electrician, and we tell you before you buy.
- Starting the system, checking it in heating and cooling, and showing you the controls and how to clean the filters.
Installing a mini-split needs a permit in California. We get the permit for you. The Daikin systems we install use R-32, a refrigerant with a lower global warming potential than the older R-410A, and our technicians are EPA 608 certified.

Rebates
Some utility programs pay rebates on mini-split heat pumps, with conditions. SMUD, for example, counts a mini-split only when it heats and cools the whole home, meets its efficiency requirements and is installed by a contractor in the SMUD Contractor Network. We tell you which programs apply to your home before you buy. See rebates in our area.
Repair and maintenance
We repair and maintain ductless systems of all major brands: no heating or cooling, an error code on the indoor unit, water dripping from the indoor unit, ice on the coil or a noisy fan. Mini-splits need clean filters, coils and drains to keep running well. Check the indoor unit filters regularly (your model’s manual gives the schedule), and we clean the coils and drains during maintenance.
