Heating & Air Conditioning in Antelope, CA

Antelope sits in the north of Sacramento County along the Placer County line, and we repair, replace and maintain heating and cooling systems there.

Climate and your system

Two NOAA stations with 1991–2020 normals lie at similar distances from Antelope: Sacramento 5 ESE, about 19 km to the south-southwest, and Sacramento Metro Airport, about 23 km to the west. Their July average highs agree at about 94°F, but their winters differ, with January lows of 41°F and 38°F and roughly 4 versus 23 nights a year at or below freezing. We set up heat pumps here with the colder of those two pictures in mind.

Roseville next door is in Climate Zone 11, but Antelope itself (ZIP 95843) is entirely in Zone 12, because the zone boundary follows the county line along Antelope’s edge. The zone sets the Title 24 targets for a replacement, and the duct test that usually comes with it is signed off by an ECC-Rater, previously called a HERS Rater.

Homes in Antelope

Antelope is mostly a 1980s and 1990s community: close to four in ten of its roughly 15,500 homes were built in the 1990s, more than a quarter in the 1980s, and only about one in eight before 1980. The typical home dates from 1993. If a house still has the furnace and air conditioner it was built with, that equipment is now around 30 years old or more, and any large repair is worth weighing against a replacement quote.

Permits: Sacramento County

Antelope has no city hall, so the HVAC permit is a Sacramento County permit. The county’s FAQ names a heating and cooling system among the projects that need a permit, and residential replacements can be issued online without a counter visit. We take care of it, from the application to booking the inspection. Source: Sacramento County, projects that require a permit (BPI FAQ).

Utilities and rebates

For power, Antelope is a SMUD community; for gas, it is PG&E. Besides its heat pump rebates, SMUD lists Go Electric rebates of up to $4,000 for a smart panel, subpanel or new circuit, with the subpanel and circuit rebates tied to a gas-to-electric conversion (SMUD’s rebate page). A SMUD Contractor Network installer is required for the heat pump rebates, so check with us before you sign anything; we’ll explain how that affects your project, and our rebate guide has the wider picture.

What we do in Antelope

Ask us to compare a heat pump with a new gas furnace for your house, since the SMUD rebate rules shape that choice.

Common questions in Antelope

Yes. In California a building permit is required when an HVAC unit is replaced. In Antelope, residential HVAC permits come from Sacramento County Building Permits & Inspection, and most replacements also require a Title 24 duct leakage test verified by an independent ECC-Rater (formerly HERS Rater). We get the permit and schedule the test for you.
SMUD supplies electricity for most homes in Antelope (some border addresses are served by PG&E, so check your electric bill), and PG&E supplies natural gas. SMUD’s heat pump rebates are paid only when the job is done by a contractor in the SMUD Contractor Network; ask us before you buy so we can confirm what applies to your home.
Through November 30, 2026 our residential visit and diagnosis is $49 per system, and we waive the $49 fee if you approve the repair. The price is the same on evenings and weekends, and you get a written repair price before any work starts. New installation estimates are free.
