Heating & Air Conditioning in Rancho Cordova, CA

Service for Rancho Cordova heating and cooling systems, from 1970s neighborhoods to houses built since 2010.

Climate and your system

Rancho Cordova has no long-term temperature station inside the city, so we use Sacramento 5 ESE, the nearest NOAA station with 1991–2020 normals, about 11 to 16 km away depending on the part of town. Those normals give a 94°F July average high and only about four nights a year at or below freezing. With winters that mild, a properly sized heat pump rarely has to lean on backup heat.

Under Title 24, Rancho Cordova (ZIPs 95742, 95670 and 95827) is Climate Zone 12, and the Energy Commission is explicit on one point there: replacing only the outdoor unit of a split system still triggers duct sealing and testing, with an ECC-Rater (formerly known as a HERS Rater) verifying the result.

Homes in Rancho Cordova

Rancho Cordova’s 29,300 or so homes come from two building waves. Just over half predate 1980, yet three in ten were built in 2000 or later, and the median home dates from 1979. That means two kinds of jobs: houses where 1970s ducts and wiring set the limits, and 2000s houses whose original equipment is reaching replacement age.

Permits: City of Rancho Cordova

Rancho Cordova is an incorporated city, so HVAC permits come from its own building department, not from Sacramento County. The city’s building page describes an online system for applying, paying and booking inspections. Our office pulls the permit there for you. Source: City of Rancho Cordova, Building and Safety.

Utilities and rebates

Every part of Rancho Cordova is in SMUD’s electric territory, and the gas comes from PG&E. To collect a SMUD heat pump rebate, the job must pass Title 24 with the rater’s CF3R form, any new ductwork has to be insulated to at least R-8, and a SMUD Contractor Network member must do the installation (see SMUD’s rebate page). Bring up the rebate in your first call, and we’ll be clear about how SMUD’s installer rule bears on our quote; our rebate guide covers everything else.

What we do in Rancho Cordova

If your home was built after 2010, have the model numbers of your equipment handy when you call so we can check its warranty status.

Common questions in Rancho Cordova

Yes. In California a building permit is required when an HVAC unit is replaced. In Rancho Cordova, residential HVAC permits come from the City of Rancho Cordova Building & Safety Division, and most replacements also require a Title 24 duct leakage test verified by an independent ECC-Rater (formerly HERS Rater). We get the permit and schedule the test for you.
SMUD supplies electricity and PG&E supplies natural gas in Rancho Cordova. SMUD’s heat pump and heat pump water heater rebates are paid only when the job is done by a contractor in the SMUD Contractor Network; ask us before you buy so we can confirm whether your project can qualify with us.
Through November 30, 2026 our residential visit and diagnosis is $49 per system, and we waive the $49 fee if you approve the repair. The price is the same on evenings and weekends, and you get a written repair price before any work starts. New installation estimates are free.
